Safety Tips for Buying & Selling on ZenaDivo

Most local deals go smoothly. These habits help keep it that way.

Meeting up

Meet in a busy public place in daylight. Many police stations offer "safe exchange zones" in their parking lots or lobbies.
Bring a friend for large or valuable items, and tell someone where you're going.
For items at home (like furniture), have someone with you and move the item near the door beforehand.

Inspect the item and test it before you pay.
Cash or an instant bank transfer (like Interac e-Transfer) at the meet-up are the simplest options. Confirm the money has arrived in your account before handing over an item.
Never pay a deposit to hold an item you haven't seen.
Never pay with gift cards or cryptocurrency.
For expensive items, ask for proof of purchase or a serial number.

Overpayment: a buyer "accidentally" sends too much and asks for the difference back.
Fake payment emails: messages that look like payment confirmations but the money never arrives. Check your bank app directly.
Shipping-only buyers: someone who can't meet and wants to use their own courier.
Verification codes: anyone asking for a code sent to your phone. Never share it.
Moving off-platform: pressure to switch to text, email or another app right away. Keep conversations in ZenaDivo Messages.
Prices that are too good to be true, especially with urgency ("need it gone today, just send a deposit").

Stop contact and don't send more money.

Report fraud to your local police and to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre (1-888-495-8501).
If you paid by card or bank transfer, contact your bank right away.
If you feel unsafe at any time, leave and call 911.
